Tailgate Alley Renovation

The corner of 2nd Avenue & University in Durant is now referred to as Tailgate Alley. The Alley comes alive for each home football game, and is  the site of the True Blue BBQ Competition and the True Blue Chili Cook-Off in a partnership with Discover Durant and the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce.

Homecoming is truly special in Tailgate Alley, as numerous alumni groups and academic departments host reunions. Pep rallies, BBQ's, student organization meetings and many other events are regularly held in The Alley.

The multi-stage plan is for this simple piece of ground to become a totally renovated tailgating park with a large pavilion and a permanent stage for bands and other entertainment. The renovation and expansion will allow the area to be used year-round for other university and community gatherings and activities.

The University will complete Phase I of this project this spring with new fencing around the perimeter that matches the fencing around Paul Laird Field.

Please consider supporting the effort to renovate Tailgate Alley!
